EXAMPLE 1:
If you served 4 years on active duty, you will receive the full $1,040 basic housing allowance and full tuition for 36 months. EXAMPLE 2: If you served in the National Guard and have a total of 12 months active duty, you will receive $520 basic housing allowance and half of your tuition will be covered every semester. |
Can I transfer my GI Bill to my spouse or dependent?
Yes, If you have served at least 6 years on active duty you can transfer your benefits. This only applies if you have re-enlisted for an additional 4 year term of service and did not exit or retire from service prior to August 1st, 2009.
How to apply for benefits.
Before you apply for benefits you will need to ensure you have the following:
1) An acceptance letter from the University of Kentucky.
2) A copy of your DD214.
3) Your checking account number and routing number for the banking institution for direct deposit of funds.
